NOW Music proudly presents the fifth addition to our 80s Dancefloor vinyl compilation series: NOW That’s What I Call 80s Dancefloor: PURE POP – Out 16th August! This stellar collection, across 2 LPs, captures the best of 1980s dance-pop, delivering pure, unadulterated fun straight from your turntable – and is pressed in a fabulous pink and blue vinyl.
LP1 Side A kicks off with a run of Stock, Aitken and Waterman produced classics - Bananarama's ‘I Heard A Rumour’, sets the stage, followed by Mel & Kim with their debut ‘Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)’, Rick Astley’s mega-hit ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, which still ignites dance floors worldwide today, and a lesser-compiled Kylie Minogue track ‘Made In Heaven’. Debbie Gibson's ‘Shake Your Love’ keeps the energy high, while the remainder of the first side are all from massive 80s movies: Ray Parker Jr.'s ‘Ghostbusters’ is featured along with two tracks from the legendary ‘Footloose’ soundtrack; Deniece Williams' ‘Let's Hear It For The Boy’ , and Kenny Loggins with the electrifying title track ‘Footloose’.
LP1 Side B opens with Whitney Houston’s power-house vocals on ‘So Emotional’, leading into the celebratory ‘I’m Coming Out’ from Diana Ross, before Boogie Box High takes over with their funky rendition of ‘Jive Talkin’’. Miami Sound Machine’s ‘Conga!’ and DeBarge’s ‘Rhythm Of The Night’ add in a Latin-disco flavour, whilst the smooth disco of Shalamar's ‘I Can Make You Feel Good’ leads to the LP1 closer from Five Star with their slick and irresistible ‘Can't Wait Another Minute’.
LP2 Side A starts with Blondie’s genre-blending ‘Rapture’, moving into the catchy pure pop of Kim Wilde’s ‘You Came’ and Laura Branigan’s anthemic ‘Gloria’. Hi-NRG Pop from Tight Fit with ‘Fantasy Island’ and Dollar’s cover of ‘O L'amour’ give way to huge genre defining hits from Hazell Dean with ‘Who's Leaving Who’ and ‘Toy Boy’ from Sinitta. The side closes with a #1 dance-floor classic, ‘You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You’ the chart debut from Sonia.
LP2 Side B celebrates some of the decades’ biggest Euro-pop smashes including Ryan Paris’s ‘Dolce Vita’, Baltimora’s ‘Tarzan Boy’, the London Boys with ‘London Nights’, Modern Talking’s ‘Brother Louie’ and Spagna’s ‘Call Me’. The collection closes with a trio of UK produced disco floor-fillers and guaranteed party favourites - The Nolans’ ‘I'm In The Mood For Dancing’ and Kelly Marie’s ‘Feels Like I’m In Love’ offering pure-pop joy, and culminating in Liquid Gold’s exuberant ‘Dance Yourself Dizzy’.
A limited edition pressing, and an essential addition to any collection. Don’t miss out on this dancing journey through one of the greatest decades in music history!
