Celebrate 40 years of compilations with NOW That’s What I Call 40 Years – 43 tracks across 3 LPs - honouring the legacy with a selection of the best from 40 years of NOW. Take the journey from the first edition back in 1983, right up to the present day. The 3 LPs are each pressed in different colours, reflecting the artwork in stunning blue, white and violet.
Opening with 1983’s biggest selling single ‘Karma Chameleon’ from Culture Club, before #1s from UB40 and Bonnie Tyler, and the huge hits ‘Radio Ga Ga’ by Queen, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ from Tina Turner, and ‘Pipes Of Peace’ by Paul McCartney. Mid-80s pop gold from Eurythmics, Peter Gabriel and The Communards with Sarah Jane Morris are up next alongside legendary rap/rock collaboration ‘Walk This Way’ from RUN DMC feat. Aerosmith, and chart-toppers from Pet Shop Boys and Soul II Soul & Caron Wheeler. LP1 closes with The KLF and Tammy Wynette’s collaboration ‘Justified And Ancient’, and ‘Ordinary World’, a huge hit from 1993 for Duran Duran.
LP2 includes massive #1s from Meat Loaf, Coolio & L.V., and Oasis, before era-defining hits from Spice Girls, George Michael, and Robbie Williams. Flip the vinyl over for the mega-selling ‘Believe’ from Cher, Britney Spears’ debut ‘…Baby One More Time’ and Kylie Minogue’s biggest hit ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’. The journey continues through the Noughties with Girls Aloud, S Club, The Black Eyed Peas and Take That with ‘Rule The World’.
The final LP kicks off with Coldplay’s first #1 ‘Viva La Vida’, and the huge dance-pop hit ‘Bad Romance’ from Lady Gaga ahead of One Direction’s debut, Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’, and Ed Sheeran’s first #1 ‘Sing’. The side finishes with ‘Uptown Funk’ from Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, and pop magic from Little Mix with ‘Black Magic’. George Ezra’s #1 ‘Shotgun’ leads the final side alongside Calvin Harris and Sam Smith’s collaboration on ‘Promises’, and the signature song from Lewis Capaldi. The Weeknd’s global smash hit ‘Blinding Lights’ brings the collection into the ‘20s, followed by the massive debut ‘Heat Waves’ from Glass Animals. ‘Cold Heart’ - the #1 pairing of Elton John & Dua Lipa is followed by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha’s #1 ‘I’m Good (Blue)’… and as we reach 2023, Loreen’s Eurovision winner ‘Tattoo’ features ahead of the final track - taken from the Summer of 2023 - ‘Padam Padam’ from Kylie Minogue – an artist who has enjoyed - much like NOW That’s What I Call Music - continued success during five decades from the ‘80s to the ‘20s. NOW That’s What I Call 40 Years – celebrating NOW’s legacy with Massive Pop Hits from the past 40 years.
